The White Shoe Brigade!
Well, it was only a matter of time before I was going to change jobs. I wasn't really planning the move for a couple of years, but my employers clearly had other ideas. We are running out of stock and switching from two sales offices to one - as a result someone has to go. Being the junior member of the sales team, 'someone' is me.
What now for our brave and intrepid hero? A job in general real estate, apparently. I have secured employment with an agency in Broadbeach and will be kicking off there on the fourth of July. I should be finishing up here in a week or so, which gives me a couple of weeks to relax and get things in order.
I must admit, that everything is suprisingly amicable, given just how pissed off I have the right to be - I just don't see the point in burning bridges. At least, not until I stand to benefit from it. Despite the fact that I returned from Japan for my current job, and despite the assurances of a nice, high earning potential and some good job security I have been given the old, ugly axe.
Not to worry, I will be able to earn more in my new position (and with luck will be able to get a few hefty commissions off my current employer).
A lot of people, upon hearing that I am going into general real estate have asked "Is that what you want to do?" To be honest, I have no idea - I haven't worked in this field long enough to know whether or not I hate it. In the meantime, the money should be enough to keep me happy and provide me with what I need and want. I can't really see myself being a real estate agent ten years down the track, but we shall see.
