Alive and Thriving

It's been a while since my last post. In fact, I haven't put anything down here since my return to Australia. Unfortunate though it may be, I have been busy.

It's kind of hard to know where to begin a recap of the last few weeks, which is why the next few paragraphs may be somewhat lacking in continuity and coherence. Just strap yourself in and pretend that you are enjoying the ride.

Life is good. Those three words are a justifiable summary of things at present. Since my return, I have moved in with Kat, which is going surprisingly well, considering how much I was getting used to living by myself. The fact that we haven't had any major dramas in the last few weeks bodes pretty well for the relationship in general as far as I can tell. I will probably return to discuss the de facto life at a later time.

Work is surprisingly good. I tore through the coursework for my REIQ qualification (ie the piece of paper that lets me sell whopping great chunks of real estate) and now just have to wait for it to be marked and for the Office of Fair Trading to register me. I should have this within two months, if all goes well.

I am surprised how much I am enjoying work, and returning back to my old company reminded me that work doesn't have to be mindless drudgery for forty hours a week, but can actually be (dare I say it?) fun. I have been splitting my time pretty equally between Sales, Marketing and helping out the girls in the legal department, but go full-time into Sales from Monday. While I am not totally sold on the whole roster thing (I get two days off in every seven, but which two will depend on the roster) I am looking forward to getting a few sales notched up.

The fact that work have been nice enough to furnish me with a phone and the shiny new ASUS laptop that I am typing this post on is also great. They have even extended me the honor of a company car (mid 90's Commodore) for my first three months while I get my act together and buy my first car. There is a SAAB out there with my name on it, and a reasonable pricetag. I will find it, mark my words.

In the meantime, I really need to stop abusing the fact that I drive something with a fair bit of muscle and start obeying speed limits. I would hate to lose my licence before I even purchase my own car....

My boxes of stuff that I lovingly packed began arriving this week, as my pile of worldly possessions grow. Later this week I will be picking up a shiny new LG sound system for the living room and with that stowed away, I should be pretty much moved in. Scary, scary stuff.

I have also discovered a newfound love in my life. The BBQ. Four gas burners of ultimate goodness. I am not sure if Kat is sick of eating barbequed food yet - if she is, she has yet to say so. There are still many, many things that I have not yet barbequed, so the novelty is a long way from wearing off from my point of view.

I am surprised how little I found to write about, considering how busy I have been, but rest assured, once I find a little more time to write these things, there will be plenty more raving and ranting to be had.

In closing: It's good to be back.
